Media Advisory: Army Reserve to co-host Commissary/Exchange grand opening

    CORAOPOLIS, PA, UNITED STATES

    10.20.2014

Story by Staff Sgt. Shawn Morris

    99th Readiness Division

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. The Army Reserve, Defense Commissary Agency and Army & Air Force Exchange Service are scheduled to host a Commissary/Exchange grand-opening ceremony Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at 79 Soldiers Lane, Moon Township, Pennsylvania, 15108.

What: The Army Reserve, Defense Commissary Agency and Army & Air Force Exchange Service are scheduled to host a Commissary/Exchange grand-opening ceremony

Who: Scheduled to participate in the event are:
    - U.S. Senator Bob Casey, United States senator for Pennsylvania
    - U.S. Congressman Tim Murphy, representing Pennsylvania’s 18th District
    - U.S. State Senator Matt Smith, representing Pennsylvania’s 37th Senatorial District
    - Col. J. Matthew Lissner, U.S. Army Reserve
    - Representatives from DeCA and AAFES

    When: Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m.

Where: 79 Soldiers Lane, Moon Township, Pennsylvania, 15108

Background: This state-of-the-art complex will benefit the nearly 170,000 eligible service members, retirees and military families who live within a 100-mile radius of Moon Township. By co-locating these new facilities with the Army Strong Community Center and McGarity Army Reserve Center, this location is now a one-stop shop, offering a multitude of services and benefits to our men and women in uniform, their family members and those who have devoted their careers to service to our nation.

These new facilities also incorporate the latest in energy-efficient technology, allowing us to reduce our impact on the environment while saving taxpayer money. They also save millions in renovation and sustainment costs by replacing outdated facilities, such as the Charles E. Kelly Support Facility in Oakdale, Pennsylvania, that no longer meet modern standards.

Media organizations are invited to attend. Journalists must have a valid driver’s license and media ID. Please RSVP no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, to ensure access to the event. For additional information, contact the 99th Regional Support Command Public Affairs Office at 732-773-3026. To cover the event, call 412-604-8156 or e-mail julius.d.penn.mil@mail.mil.
