TAMUNING, Guam - Sailors assigned to Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54) visited John F. Kennedy High School in Guam to participate in a community relations (COMREL) event, Oct. 3.

During the event, Sailors spoke to several different classes about what life is like in the Navy and answered questions from the students.

“This was one of the best COMRELs I’ve ever been on,” said Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Corina Fluker, from San Diego. “We got a round of applause as we walked in through the halls of the school.”

Antietam Sailors were treated to a traditional dance, local dessert and played a few games of basketball.

“Interacting with these kids was great,” said Sonar Technician 2nd Class Christina Mason, from Sacramento, Calif. “They were so interested in what we do and were just so excited to have us there. I can’t wait to go back the next time we are in Guam.”

Antietam is on patrol in the 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.
