CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - Marines of Bravo Company, 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, held a transfer of authority ceremony with Soldiers of the 252nd Military Police Company based out of Cleveland, Tennessee, Oct. 13, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

Bravo Company was deployed for seven months to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During their deployment, Bravo Company was augmented by Soldiers of the 361st Military Police Company and the 374th MP Company.

During the ceremony, the Soldiers of the 252nd MP Company assumed responsibility for theater customs operations from Bravo Company.

Brig. Gen. Daniel Mitchell, deputy commanding general of the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) presided over the ceremony and thanked the Soldiers and Marines for their service and support and also talked about the success of their customs operations.

Among some of Bravo Company’s accomplishments, they helped expedite the movement of more than $2 billion of cargo throughout the theater while eliminating illegal contraband and other prohibited items.

“You have made a significant difference and served with distinction,” said Mitchell.

“Thank you for your service and your sacrifices. You have served your nation with dignity and honor,” he added.

The commander of Bravo Company, Capt. Ryan Powers praised his unit and said they did a phenomenal job.

“None of what we’ve done could have been accomplished without [you],” said Powers, emphasizing his unit’s dedication to mission accomplishment.

“You executed the mission with absolute success. It’s been a great seven months,” he said.

Powers also said that the Soldiers they were augmented by played an important role in maintaining continuity of operations during the transition process with the 252nd MP Company. Soldiers of the 374th MP Company will remain for now to continue augmenting customs operations in theater.

The commander of the 252nd MP Company, Capt. Christopher Martinson, thanked the Marines of Bravo Company and said his company was ready to take on their new responsibilities.

“We’re very excited about this mission. It is intricately involved with everything,” said Martinson.

“Equipment and Soldiers don’t move without us and we know that’s a very important mission,” he said.

Mitchell said the 252nd MP Company came to theater with a tremendous reputation and that, even though Kuwait is not a combat zone, the mission remains an important one nonetheless.

“The mission is unique and ever-changing. You understand the mission and I know you will do your best, day in and day out, and you will succeed,” said Mitchell.
