ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Airmen and their families will get a sneak peek at what the Wings of Freedom Open House has to offer Sept. 12, 2014.
Friday will provide an opportunity for Altus AFB members to observe the aerial demonstrations before gates open to the public.
“Friday’s practice show allows a more private setting specifically for DoD members and their families, who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Drew Kanikeberg, Wings of Freedom Open House director. “The men and women of Altus AFB are excited to share the Altus AFB and U.S. Air Force mission with the public on Saturday.”
The airfield is scheduled to open at 10:30 a.m. Friday for Department of Defense members and their families and should last until about 3:30 p.m.
“We’ll have all the acts performing that day including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Force Academy Wings of Blue parachute team, a number of war bird historical military aircraft and a number of civilian aircraft as well,” said Kanikeberg.
“The last show we had was in 2010,” said Kanikeberg. “A couple of years ago we had a small open house but it didn’t include aerial demonstrations. We are privileged to have a variety of aerial performers here and we look forward to their impressive demonstrations.”
The gates open to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday with the aerial performances beginning at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free for the public.
