News: Fort Hood welcomes new III Corps command sergeant major

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Soldiers, family members, civilians and Central Texas community leaders will welcome Command Sgt. Maj. Alonzo J. Smith, Fort Hood's new III Corps & Fort Hood command sergeant major 9 a.m. Aug. 20 at the III Corps Headquarters here.

Smith comes to Fort Hood from Fort Campbell, Ky., where he served as the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) command sergeant major.

Smith replaces Command Sgt. Maj. Scott C. Schroeder who now serves as the command sergeant major for U.S. Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Media desiring to cover the event should register here. A public affairs representative will meet the media at the Southside parking lot of Marvin Leath Visitors Center at 8:15 a.m. Aug. 20 for an escort to the ceremony.
