FORT HOOD, Texas – The 1st Cavalry Division will award the Army Commendation Medal with Valor device to 1st Lt. John McCluskey, from Company A, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, at 12 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 here at the 1-8 Cav headquarters, building 37011, on Battalion Ave.
Brig. Gen. Viet Luong, 1st Cavalry Division's deputy commander for maneuver, will award McCluskey during the ceremony.
McCluskey is receiving his award for actions taken while serving as a scout platoon leader with 1-8 Cavalry Regiment during an attack on Forward Operating Base Pasab, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, January 2014.
Media representatives interested in attending the award ceremony should arrive at the Fort Hood Visitor Center no later than 11:20 a.m. to be escorted to the event.
