Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas - The 132nd Military Police Company, South Carolina Army National Guard, returned to U.S. soil on July 24 at the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Air Control Group after completing a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Maj. Gen. Gregory Batts, the assistant adjutant general of the South Carolina Army National Guard was there to shake the hand of every Soldier coming off the C-17 aircraft.

“We have been at war for 13 years and a lot of demands have been placed on the National Guard,” said Batts. “Our Soldiers have stepped up, time after time, and have done fantastic work and have served proudly.”

The 132nd MP Co. Commander, Capt. Michael Franzi, was more than pleased with his Soldiers and the goals they accomplished.

“The highlight of my deployment is standing here right now with all my Soldiers, back on U.S. soil, after completing the mission for the last seven months downrange,” said Franzi.

Franzi later explained that he still had a few Soldiers that stayed behind for a few weeks in order to help with the remaining units who are gearing up to come home soon.

“If we can keep them in our thoughts and prayers, that would be great,” requested Franzi.

The 132nd MP Co. will now go through a de-mobilization process with the Directorate of Mobilization and Deployment before jumping on another flight back home to Columbia, South Carolina.

Betts credits DoMaD for having a great reputation in an expedited de-mobilization process. According to Betts, the process has gotten better and better over the past 13 years.

“It has been excellent service, and a well choreographed process,” said Betts. “Soldiers are eager to get home and they will be questioning every move like young people tend to do. DoMaD has all the answers. They are the experts and have been doing this for a long time.”

DoMaD provides unity of command and unity of effort for all administrative, logistical support, and movement requirements for all units and individuals supported by the Fort Bliss Joint Mobilization Station (JMS). Simultaneously, DoMaD operates the Soldier Resilience and Readiness Center and coordinates all flight operations at the Silas L. Copeland A/DACG.
