FORT STEWART, Ga. - In a time honored fashion, the Commander, 1st Sergeant, and the most junior Soldier of the Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, represented their company which just received a very prestigious award within the Army Armor world, the Draper Armor Leadership Unit award, here at the Marne Gardens, March 24.

Established in 1924 by Lt. Col. Wycliffe P. Draper, “to promote combat leadership in the cavalry of the Army of the United States,” the Draper award recognizes those outstanding Armor leaders who have demonstrated remarkable initiative and exceptional fortitude in the areas of doctrine, tactics, training, and mentorship. Their exemplary service ensures Armor will forever remain the “Combat Arm of Decision.”

The Dragons recently earned the position of the Top Tank Company for the entire division due to the expertise they exercised in their gunnery in late 2013. They were also recognized by many for their crucial efforts in making the Army 2020 Physical Study Demand a success and paving the way for growth and change in the U.S. Army.

Awarded were Capt. Jamal Khan, 1st Sgt. Jason Hall, and Pfc. Albert Delgado, commander, senior enlisted leader, and most junior Soldier of the Dragon Company, respectively.
