EASTOVER, S.C. - Approximately 50 Marines assigned to the 273rd Marine Wing Support Squadron, Air Operations Company, Fuels Platoon and Expeditionary Airfield Platoon at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C., accomplished a Forward Air Refueling Point exercise with the South Carolina National Guard here, May 14, 2014.

McEntire provided the airfield for the Marines to exercise their refueling training on AH-64D Apache Longbow, CH-53D Sea Stallion, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and an MV-22 Osprey.

“The support that the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing and the Army National Guard’s 151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion and Alpha Company, 2nd of the 149th, General Support Aviation Battalion, gave us is phenomenal,” said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jennifer Enno, airfield operations company commander of the 273rd MWSS.

Joint service missions, such as this one, allow the Marines to set up operations hours away from their home station, creating multiple training advantages and a better preparation for combat situations, said Staff Sgt. Andrew Forrer, fuels chief for the 273rd MWSS.

The Marines expended approximately 7,200 gallons of aviation fuel from their N90 fuel tankers into multiple aircraft to complete the operation.

“It’s three services combined as one preparing to get the fight out in an expedient manner,” said Enno. “It’s one team, one fight.”
