ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Carol Robinson decided to take on a career of civil service over 40 years ago, and hasn’t regretted a moment of it.

She began her career as a data transcriber, clerk and assistant for the 97th Civil Engineer Squadron April 22, 1974. Since then, she went on to do various jobs throughout the wing such as an accounting technician, stock fund manager and budget analyst.

“I was responsible for the preparation of base civil engineering input documents to data automated files and records,” said Robinson recalling her first job. “I manually maintained current running ledgers of utility consumption and cost, both monthly and cumulative for the year to be used for updating on reports.”

Now Robinson works as a manpower analyst for the 97th Force Support Squadron and conducts comprehensive manpower and organizational analyses of a wide variety of organizations, functions and work processes. She also provides management consultant services to improve mission effectiveness, resource efficiency, and resource savings.

“I enjoy learning new things and the job involves lots of challenges,” said Robinson. “I enjoy the challenges and interaction, working with people.”

She impacts the wing mission by providing management advice on effective and economical management of manpower resources, training, and support to service organizations creating an innovative management culture and operating style.

“Knowledge gained through working with other organizational functions has assisted me with how organizations run and operate throughout my career and in all my other jobs. There isn’t an organization at Altus that does not interconnect with one another at some time or other to make the mission happen. Understanding and having a working knowledge about an organization makes it easier to provide information and work with their unit to accomplish mission requirements.”

“I owe my success, first and foremost, to God, who oversees my life each day, family, a few good supervisors, and friends,” said Robinson. “I would like to thank all of them for being patient, kind, caring, and loving through the years.”
