MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. – Characters from the popular children’s television show, "Sesame Street," plan to team up with the USO to provide the Sesame Street/USO Experience for military families at Cherry Point’s Two Rivers Theatre April 26 and 27.
The show, based on "Sesame Street’s" military family initiative, brings television characters Katie, Elmo and more of their friends to life to help military members and their families deal with the challenges of growing up in the military.
“We are incredibly grateful to be working with the 'Sesame Street' team,” said retired Brig. Gen. John I. Pray Jr., the USO’s president and CEO. “We know they fully understand the unique challenges facing today’s military families, and that they fully share our commitment to always be by their side to help them cope with these challenges.”
This year’s tour will demonstrate the power of friendship, with Elmo and his 'Sesame Street' pals helping Katie open up about her fears and excitement as she deals with moving to a new place and making new friends, according to the Sesame Street/USO Experience official webpage.
The four scheduled shows are free to military families and seating is available on a first come, first served basis. On April 26, shows are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. On April 27, shows are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
