    New Army Ambassador appointed to Idaho

    FORT MCCOY, Wis. — Ellen Nordhaus was appointed an Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Idaho on March 21 by the Chief of the Army Reserve, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley.

    Nordhaus joins more than 100 Army Reserve Ambassadors throughout country to help promote awareness and understanding of Army Reserve units and soldiers within their assigned states. Army Reserve Ambassadors are a two-star equivalent and represent the Chief of the Army Reserve without salary, wages or related benefits. Army Reserve Ambassadors develop awareness and advocacy with community leaders and are vitally important bridges to communities across the nation.

    Nordhaus lives in Boise, Idaho, and has been a member of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for over 20 years, serving as a unit representative, area chairperson and Ombudsman. Nordhaus has 17 years of teaching experience at all levels, through pre-school to university, with a focus on middle school mathematics.

    Some of Nordhaus’ civilian honors include Presidential Service Awards for the ESGR in Oregon and Idaho, the Spirit of Volunteerism Award for the ESGR in Oregon 2011 and in Idaho 2012.

    As an Army Reserve Ambassador, Nordhaus will help educate local and state businesses, as well as government and social sectors on the Army Reserve’s mission, significant contributions and resource needs. Nordhaus can be reached by email at diannen3@clearwire.net
