FORT MCCOY, Wis. — William Bissonette was appointed an Army Reserve Ambassador for the state of Wisconsin, April 7, 2014, by the Chief of the Army Reserve, Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley.
Bissonette joins more than 100 Army Reserve Ambassadors throughout country to help promote awareness and understanding of Army Reserve units and soldiers within their assigned states. Army Reserve Ambassadors are a two-star equivalent and represent the Chief of the Army Reserve without salary, wages or related benefits. Army Reserve Ambassadors develop awareness and advocacy with community leaders and are vitally important bridges to communities across the nation.
Bissonette, a retired command sergeant major, served in the Army and Army Reserve for 32 years. Most recently Bissonette served as the Garrison command sergeant major of Fort McCoy, Wis., until his retirement in February. His education includes an associate’s degree from Central Texas College and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management from the American Military Academy.
Bissonette is involved with the Tomah Chamber of Commerce and the Boys and Girls Club of Tomah. He is also a life member of the Association of the U.S. Army as well as the National Infantry Association. He was the founding member of the Patriot Warrior Riders. Bissonette currently resides in Tomah, Wis.
As an Army Reserve Ambassador, Bissonette will help educate local and state businesses, as well as government and social sectors on the Army Reserve’s mission, significant contributions and resource needs.
