PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan commandos of 3rd Company, 6th Special Operations Kandak found a weapons cache March 20 during a clearing operation in Pirahkel village, Khogyani District.

The combined operation, with coalition forces, supports provincial and district leaders’ desire of improving security in Nangarhar province by disrupting insurgents’ ability to utilize Khogyani as a safe haven.

Commandos found an 81mm mortar tube, six AK-47 assault rifles, four semi-automatic rifles, two pistols, a shotgun, and several grenades and rifle cartridges.

The commandos confiscated the weapons and destroyed the explosives.
