Nowruz Greeting,

To the honorable and peaceful people of Afghanistan, Salaam-U-Alaikum!
“Nowruz Wa Saal-e Naw Mubarak”

On behalf of ISAF and all of our coalition nations, I wish you and your families a very prosperous and successful New Year.

The achievements this past year for Afghanistan have been enormous. The police and army proved that they can stand on their own and protect the Afghan people. Their brave and heroic actions demonstrated their dedication to a secure, stable, and unified Afghanistan. However, these successes have not been without cost. We know that the sacrifices of the Afghan security forces and the Afghan people have been great. We thank you all for your continued hospitality and friendship.

The New Year 1393 will be a pivotal period in your nation’s history. We know that 1393 Hamal 16 election is very important for Afghans. We will stay neutral in the politics of the election, but we will continue to support the police and army as they provide a safe environment for all Afghans to vote. This is your election and we will look forward to your decision. We stand behind the Afghan people, their military, and their government.

The Afghan people have suffered much in the past three decades, to our great sorrow. We want peace to come soon. In the coming year, it is our greatest desire that Afghanistan enjoys peace, prosperity and stability.

I wish you, your friends, and your family the best for the New Year.

May Almighty God bless the great people of Afghanistan and peace-loving nations around the world.
