BARSTOW, Calif. - Marine Corps Family Team Building across the Marine Corps has multiple ways of getting Marines and their family members the information they need, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

One of the many tools MFTB uses to provide updates to base personnel is eMarine, which has now changed its mobile website to make it easier for Marines and their family members to browse through the site on any mobile device.

“(eMarine mobile) was created to give family members and Marines the chance to see what is going on in the unit and give them contact information if they have any questions,” said Julie Wilbanks, family readiness officer on Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. “Also, the mobile site is easier to browse through and read on any given mobile device.”

Family readiness is of the utmost importance when it comes to Marines deploying, she explained. Families like to know what’s going on while their loved one is out defending the nation, she said. It is for this reason, the Marine Corps created eMarine.

“On the site there are (contact) numbers, so (if necessary) you can contact someone in (your loved one’s) chain of command,” added Wilbanks. “If you have any questions, you can go to the site and see what the unit is doing, their significant events, and what the unit is all about.”

The numbers are there for people to contact the chain of command in case of an emergency, she further explained.

“We encourage you to go on the site; because like any good site, the output is only as good as the input,” Col. Michael L. Scalise, commanding officer of MCLB Barstow.

Non-deployed Marines and families can also find eMarine useful, Wilbanks added. For MCLB Barstow, the site will keep you informed on any significant events and base updates.

“eMarine is a great way for you or your immediate family to find out information … now it can be accessed through (a smartphone or tablet),” said Wilbanks. “So, when you are on the go and not at home, you can still get access to the site.”

The site should be shared with your families, said Scalise. It gives people a base play on the installation and what the Marines and civilians on the base do.

For more information on a unit’s eMarine page or to gain access, contact your unit’s FRO or visit www.eMarine.org.
