Ohio National Guard to host Columbus Chamber at federal military retention event

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio National Guard, in cooperation with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, will host a “Chamber of Commerce Federal Military Facilities Working Group” meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17 at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Building 2000, Columbus, Ohio.

The meeting will bring together federal, state and local elected officials along with community business and development leaders. The attendees will receive briefings and hands-on exposure to the many facilities and capabilities of the Ohio Air and Army National Guard and the Army, Navy and Marine Corps Reserve tenants at Rickenbacker.

“This event will highlight not only the military facilities and capabilities of the Ohio National Guard, but also the other military residents at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base,” said Maj. Gen. Deborah A. Ashenhurst, Ohio adjutant general. “This meeting, along with the ongoing efforts of our elected officials and the chamber, will allow us to continue to align our efforts.”

Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base is home to more than 250 full-time military personnel. Units at the base command more than 4,100 military members.

“The defense industry is a critical driver in the Columbus Region economy,” said Michael Dalby, president and CEO of the Columbus Chamber. “The Columbus Chamber is pleased to co-host this meeting and provide a venue for stakeholder discussion and collaboration as a show of our support for the men and women who serve in Central Ohio.”
