BRANTWOOD, Wis. -On behalf of the family of Col. Jeffrey J. Jarvensivu, the Military Intelligence Readiness Command is announcing a Celebration of Life Ceremony honoring his life and legacy. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Brantwood Community Center, at 11 a.m.
Jarvensivu, who enlisted as an Army Infantryman in 1982, died Saturday, Jan. 4, at the age of 48. His long military career continued as a Military Intelligence officer with increasing levels of responsibility. In 1996 he transitioned from the Active Army to the Army Reserve. His final Army Reserve assignments included commanding a Detachment of the 2300 Military Intelligence Group in Maryland from 2009 to 2012 and as the Chief of Cyber Operations at the Military Intelligence Readiness Command in Virginia.
His civilian employment, beginning in 1996, included Intelligence positions with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the State Police in Arizona until 2003. Jarvensivu then worked in the Washington DC area at the Depart of Defense Counterintelligence Field Activity and finally at the Defense Intelligence Agency.
