YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea – Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, commander of U.N. Command, ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command, and U.S. Forces Korea, visited the post library to read Thanksgiving stories to local children, Nov 23.
The general read two books about Thanksgiving to the group of roughly 70 children. The kids sat quietly and listened as Scaparrotti read aloud and displayed the pages from the colorful books.
Once the reading was wrapped up, the group was served a spread of traditional American Thanksgiving dishes alongside a couple Korean staples.
“The event ended in a good way. It had a good cause; to think about the meaning of thanksgiving and share some food to maintain a tight relationship with each other,” Scaparrotti said. “A lot of people showed up to this event. I wish for the community to hold some more of these sorts of events, since this event clearly had a great impact on those who attended.”
