CAMP RIPLEY, Minn. -- Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman made a special trip to Camp Ripley to meet with senior leaders and Soldiers to hear from them what he can do for them in the Senate.

He had a chance to meet with artillerymen from A Battery, 1-151 Field Artillery. The Soldiers shared with the Senator the importance of the new Reintegration Training that all returning combat veterans go through when returning home from serving in a combat zone.

"The program saved my marriage," said Sgt. First Class Timothy Green, readiness non-commissioned officer.

Senator Coleman expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Soldiers for their service and all they sacrificed while being deployed. "I want to hear from you what it is I can do for you, you have the ear of a United States senator," said Senator Coleman.

The senior leaders that Senator Coleman visited with included Brig. Gen. Jon Trost, assistant adjutant general, Lt. Col. Scott St. Sauver, battalion commander 1-151 Field Artillery, and Maj. Guy Konietzko, Camp Ripley deputy post commander. The senior leaders spoke with Senator Coleman about the importance of acquiring the Combined Arms Collective Training Facility. This facility would allow the Minnesota National Guard Soldiers to train at home longer before deploying, allowing them to train more often and still be able to see their families. It would also allow them to become more proficient and while limiting the amount of time they need to train before deploying.

The Senator's visit to Camp Ripley gave him a chance to hear what he can do for the Soldiers of Minnesota National Guard but it also gave him a chance to thank in person some of the many combat veterans of the Minnesota National Guard.
