FORT STEWART, Ga. - From healing people with one shot as a medic, to being able to eliminate them with one shot as a sniper, Spc. Daniel Futral, currently a medic with 1-121st Infantry Battalion, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) is very excited to be re-classing.
“Being a sniper is what every little boy dreams about,” explains Futral. “It is so cool living the dream and knowing I will possess the skill sets of being able to sneak up on someone, crawling around in the dirt undetected and simply being a superlative. Who would not want that?”
With the full support of his parents, this 26-year-old from Kennesaw, will leave to go to sniper school in late December. Hoping his hard work and dedication will allow the progressive career opportunities available in the sniper’s world.
His battle buddy, Pfc. Robert Young could not be happier that his teammate, being a former medic, comes with all the knowledge there of.
“His former skill sets will be vital to any mission we ever run,” says Young, a sniper with 1-121st Infantry Battalion, 48th IBCT. ”He will be a great essential because of his life-saving skills and ability to handle situations knowledgeably.”
For Futral, two and a half years of service is nowhere near enough.
“I want to make this a career,” says Futral. “I definitely love what I do, I love what I am learning, I love this battalion and I hope to go far with this new opportunity.”
