MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. -Marine Corps Community Services aboard Marine Corps Air Station New River held a career fair at the air station officers’ club, Sept. 5.
More than 30 employers set up at the fair, looking for active-duty Marines, veterans and spouses to hire.
“These regional employers really want to hire Marines and their spouses,” said MCCS family member employment advisor Sarah Carr, who helped put together the job fair. “This is a great opportunity for people to network and get to meet local employers face-to-face.”
According to Carr, one of the hardest things about finding a job right now is finding a way to physically meet a prospective employer.
“With online applications and mass job postings on sites, you lose a lot of impact that you get with talking face-to-face with an employer,” said Carr.
During the job fair, job hunters had the opportunity to meet representatives from many local lines of work, including education, civil service and reservist options.
The next job fair will be Jan. 23 and will focus on national-level jobs for people who plan on moving. For more information on job fair happenings, call MCCS at 910-449-5607.
