FORWARD OPERATING BASE SPIN BOLDAK, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Pfc. Cory A. McBride, a field artilleryman with 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, is currently serving with Combined Task Force 1-6 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak.
McBride, a native of Roseville, Calif., and graduate of Oakmont High School, arrived in theater in July 2013. He has served in the military for one year and this is his first deployment.
McBride is the night shift tactical operation center radio telephone operator for the battalion. He monitors all radio communications during his shift
His major personal goal is to prepare for training upon redeploying.
“While deployed, I am hitting the gym every day after work trying to bulk up,” said McBride. “I am preparing and planning to attend joint fires observer school when I get back”
His deployment will last from nine to 12 months. Once complete, he will return to Fort Knox.
