    WASHINGTON - What: The District of Columbia National Guard is slated to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Youth ChalleNGe Academy at the Oak Hill Campus, Laurel, Md., July 10 at 10 a.m.

    The program, hosted by Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, is slated to include distinguished guests to include Mayor Vincent Gray, Sen. Mary Landrieu and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. There will be a media availability following the ceremony.

    Media should RSVP no later than noon, July 9, 2013, to 1st Lt. Miranda Summers Lowe, 202-685-9799 or Miranda.m.summerslowe.mil@mail.mil.

    When: July 10 at 10 a.m.

    Where: District of Columbia Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy, Oak Hill Campus, 3201 Oak Hill Drive, Laurel, Md., 20724.

    Who: D.C. Youth will have a new alternative for GED completion through the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe program, a partnership between the District of Columbia National Guard, the City of Washington, D.C. and the federal government. The 30-acre, 14-building campus has undergone massive renovations to give the Oak Hill Facility a new lease on life and usefulness.

    Itinerary:
    9 a.m.–9:45 am- Check-in, media credentialing, satellite truck parking, cabling and setup. Media must arrive no later than 9:30 for credentialing, security sweeps and setup.
    10 a.m.- Ribbon-cutting ceremony to include remarks from Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz, commanding general, District of Columbia National Guard, Mayor Vincent Gray, Sen. Mary Landrieu and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.
    11 a.m.- Vincent C. Gray, Mayor of the City of Washington, will hold a press conference on the grounds of the Youth ChalleNGe Academy
    11:30 a.m.- Opportunity for media to tour the facility
    12 p.m. - Media depart the Youth ChalleNGe Academy campus

    Notes: The ceremony will be held outdoors, with an inclement weather location in the Youth ChalleNGe Academy Media Center. Please specify media parking when you arrive on the campus. Media parking will be reserved on the campus access road between buildings 7 and 10 on the attached map.
