    Story by Sgt. Jessi McCormick

    102d Public Affairs Detachment

TARIN KOT, AFGHANISTAN - Sgt. Oscar Lagunas, a combat medic with 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Texas Army National Guard, is currently serving with Combined Team Uruzgan at Multinational Base - Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lagunas, a native of Waco, Texas, arrived in theater in November 2012. He has served in the military for six years and this is his second deployment.

Many soldiers have been away from their families for important holidays, and with Father’s Day approaching, Lagunas had a few words for his son, John, and daughter, Jaslynne.

“It’s been hard being away from you guys again, but I will be home soon,” Lagunas said. “I am so proud to have the most awesome kids, ever! I love y’all!”

Lagunas is currently working with a Security Force Assistance Team to advise Afghan National Police officers. He is scheduled to return to his unit in Waco, Texas, in the next few months.
