BAYONNE, N.J. - Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Jason Brisson relieved Master Chief Petty Officer Jason Willey, former officer in charge of Aids to Navigation Team New York, during a change of command ceremony in Bayonne, N.J., Friday.

Capt. Gordon Loebl, commander, Coast Guard Sector New York, was the presiding official over the ceremony.

Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) New York’s primary missions are to inspect, maintain, service, accurately position, and relieve assigned floating aids to navigation in accordance with existing directives. ANT New York was established by combining ANT Fort Totten, Light Station Ambrose, and Light Station Coney Island.

Willey, a native of Morrisville, Vt., will be reporting to the Coast Guard Cutter Gasconade located in Omaha, Neb.

Brisson, a native of Cohoes, N.Y., reports from Aids to Navigation Team San Francisco, Calif., where he served as the Officer in Charge.

The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition, which formally restates to the crew that the continuity of the authority of command will be maintained. It is a formal ritual conducted before the assembled company of the command. The change of command is unique in that it is a transfer of total responsibility, authority, and accountability from one individual to another.
