SHINDAND, Afghanistan - A joint operation between Italian personnel from the Transition Support Unit Center based in Shindand and the Afghan National Security Forces led to the discovery of an illegal ammunition cache.
The activity has been conducted by a company of the 7th Alpine Regiment, with assets from 2nd Engineer Regiment, in support to an Afghan Traffic Police unit.
Twenty-two mortar bombs and five artillery shells were found.
The TSU-C, based on the 7th Alpine Regiment and commanded by Col. Stefano Mega, is the maneuver unit of the Italian military contingent which assists and supports the ANSFs within the Herat province.
