U.S. Army Reserve celebrates its 105th anniversary at Fort Bragg

Created in 1908 as the Medical Reserve Corps, today’s Army Reserve is a key complimentary operational force that supports the entire United States. The Army Reserve consists of more than 200,000 “citizen-soldiers”, and approximately 11,900 of those soldiers are currently deployed around the world, providing life-saving and life-sustaining capabilities for Joint Force operations.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – On Tuesday, April 23, the U.S. Army Reserve will celebrate its 105th anniversary.

Created in 1908 as the Medical Reserve Corps, today’s Army Reserve is a key complimentary operational force that supports the entire United States. The Army Reserve consists of more than 200,000 “citizen-soldiers”, and approximately 11,900 of those soldiers are currently deployed around the world, providing life-saving and life-sustaining capabilities for Joint Force operations.

The U.S. Army Reserve would like to extend an invitation for you to join our festivities at our new headquarters on Fort Bragg to recognize our organization’s 105th anniversary.

We will begin our celebration by conducting a headquarters esprit de corps run led by Maj. Gen. Luis Visot, deputy commanding general for Operations at 6:30 a.m. Upon return from the run, Maj. Gen. Visot will do a quick address to the troops and will be made available for requested interviews.

Since no birthday would be complete without cake, a cake cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. this same morning in recognition of the strong kindred spirit that binds our more than 200,000 soldiers to our neighbors and communities across the country and around the world.
