FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – "I am certain that after the dust of centuries has passed over our cities, we, too, will be remembered not for victories or defeats in battle or in politics but for our contributions to the human spirit," said President John F. Kennedy.

Members from the Tennessee Titans' community relations team took time on March 5th to visit the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell, Ky., to make heartfelt contributions to the two units.

On behalf of Titans Owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. they donated $5,000 in grants to the veteran associations of the two elite organizations.

The Titans Vice President of Community Relations Bob Hyde and Community Relations event coordinator Jerry Blessing handed a larger than life check of $2,500 to the Special Forces Scholarship Fund representative and retired Green Beret Chris Spence. The contribution represented much more than dollar signs. It symbolized genuine care for Soldiers and their families. The heartfelt donation goes directly to support the education of children of the Group's soldiers.

The Special Forces Scholarship Fund recognizes the service of 5th Group families by awarding merit-based college scholarships to the daughters and sons of current and veteran Special Force soldiers. The SFSF provides, for the first time in the 59 year history of the Green Berets, a merit-based scholarship opportunity for the children of Army Special Forces.

For the 5th SFG (A) this hits close to home. The soldiers of The Legion have a proud history of answering The Nation’s call for unconventional warfare capabilities, demonstrating flexibility, agility and maturity. The organization prides itself on having some of the most experienced soldiers our nation has to offer, but the most important and a top priority to the unit are the families of all Green Berets who have, and will always call the 5th SFG (A) home.

"The Legion is more like a family than a unit, and The Tennessee Titans have become part of our Legion family," said Col. Scott E. Brower, Commander of the 5th SFG (A). "Taking care of family is our priority, and a gift that goes directly to helping our children is unparalleled and genuinely appreciated."

Throughout the years the members of the Tennessee Titans organization have become part of The Legion family and the heartfelt donation to the SFSF that helps children of the 5th SFG (A) is a contribution to the human spirit.
