    Airman and Family Readiness Center offers financial readiness education

    ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Financial responsibility is a key component to a healthy and stress-free lifestyle.

    The 97th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center is offering financial classes to help those who are having trouble maintaining a budget or seeking additional financial management advice.

    This month the AFRC is scheduled to offer civilian financial classes. The classes are scheduled for March 18 at 8 a.m. and March 20 at 1 p.m. in the Mission Support Group auditorium.

    “People are potentially spending money on unnecessary expenses that they might not be able to afford,” said Eric Thayer 97th FSS AFRC section chief The Airmen and Family Readiness Center will help identify spending that people should look at to help control their budget. “We can also help re-evaluate needs versus wants.”

    The classes are helpful for those who have trouble budgeting.

    “Individuals need to write it down; whether it is on paper, a spreadsheet, or on a computer, they need to know where their money is going,” said Thayer. “They need to know exactly what their income is and then make adjustments from.”

    Financial readiness is always encourage throughout the year.

    “Do it now. Do not wait. Even saving a tiny bit can be a significant amount when you retire. In addition have an emergency savings set aside so if something happens you can draw from that,” Thayer added.
