    416th Theater Engineer Command

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After 33 years of distinguished, exemplary military service, Brig. Gen. Charles D. Martin was honored with a retirement ceremony and dinner, March 9, by the 416th Theater Engineer Command.

    Throughout the past 10 years, Martin made significant contributions as a Leader, commander, and warrior that have and will continue to positively influence our Army for countless years to come. During his career, he served in many important roles, which include brigade operations officer, deputy chief of staff of Army Reserve Installation Management, commanding the 353rd, Engineer Group, 372nd Engineer Brigade, and 416th Theater Engineer Command.

    In seven years of command, Martin has unquestionably earned the highest degree of trust and confidence from soldiers and from senior Army and USACE leaders alike. Leading soldiers and formations in peacetime missions and in combat operations, he has left an enduring legacy in the commands he has touched. He is a uniquely inspirational and outstanding commander committed to service before self and unparalleled excellence in all he does.

    Martin’s distinguished service is highlighted by countless achievements, but the true value of all he has accomplished is evidenced by the legacy of competent leadership he has mentored, counseled, and trained to succeed him.

    He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Certificate of Appreciation from the President of the United States, Certificate of Retirement from Gen. Raymond Odierno, United States, chief of staff, Certificate of Appreciation from Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, chief of the Army Reserve and the United States Flag and Army Lapel pin for his service. He was also awarded the Silver deFleuy Medal during the retirement dinner. The deFleuy Medal is awarded to those individuals who have provided significant contributions to Army Engineering.

    Present for the retirement ceremony and dinner were his wife, Cyd, daughter, Whitney, sister, Robin Yates, and brother-in-law, David Yates, lieutenant colonel retired.

    Martin resides in Little Rock, Ark. and will continue with this civilian occupation at Vernadero Group, Inc.
