Premier Army Reserve Command gets new name

Addie Leonhardt | Effective Feb. 1, 2013, the United States Army Reserve Joint and Special Troops Support Command headquartered at Fort Douglas, Utah, has been re-designated as the 76th United States Army Reserve Operational Response Command. The 76th ORC shoulder sleeve insignia, commonly known as a unit patch, was inherited from the 76th Infantry Division. The patch is a shield which has a red field and blue chief, separated by an olive drab line. A three-pronged white device is superimposed on the blue chief. This white device is a medieval English heraldic symbol meaning “first son.” In World War I, the 76th Division was the first division of the National Army to be drawn from civilian ranks through the draft, hence the insignia and description, "The first sons of the nation.” The combined colors of the field, the device and the chief are the national colors of red, white and blue. 76th Operational Response Command

SALT LAKE CITY – Effective Feb. 1, 2013, the United States Army Reserve Joint and Special Troops Support Command headquartered at Fort Douglas, Utah, has been redesignated as the 76th United States Army Reserve Operational Response Command.

USARJSTC was activated back in June 2009 and was initially commanded by Maj. Gen. Mari k. Eder, who has since retired after more than 30 years in service.

The 76th USARORC is currently commanded by Maj. Gen. Daniel L. York. The 76th traces its lineage from the 76th Infantry Division.

Our updated mission is to provide operational engagement packages and joint enabling capabilities for homeland response, cyber defense, legal support, information operations, and global force space enhancement requirements to combatant, unified, Joint and Department of Defense Agency Commanders.

While headquartered here at Fort Douglas, the 76th USARORC is made up of more than 4,300 soldiers located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Island. Included are:
