ST. PAUL, Minn. - Leaders of the Minnesota National Guard provided their traditional escort support for Gov. Mark Dayton's 2013 State of the State address at the Capitol Feb. 6. The annual event drew members of both the state House and Senate into the joint session of the legislature in order to hear the governor's vision for the next year.

"I want Minnesota to provide the best jobs for our citizens, the best lives for their families, and the best support for our businesses to provide those jobs," said Dayton during his address. "I want Minnesota state government to provide the best value for everyone's hard-earned tax dollars and the most efficient, effective services anywhere."

Escorts during the event included: Minnesota's adjutant general, Army Maj. Gen. Rick Nash, who escorted Gov. Dayton; Army Brig. Gen. Neal Loidolt, who escorted Lt. Gov.Yvonne Prettner Solon; Army Lt. Col. Darrin Rosha, who escorted Minnesota's Supreme Court justices; Air Force Col. Loren Hubert, who escorted two former Minnesota governors; Command Sgt. Maj. Cynthia Kallberg, who escorted Minnesota's constitutional officers, Air Force Col. Sandy Best, who escorted Minnesota's senators.

The Minnesota Guard also supported the event with their military honors team, who provided a color guard and sentries.

"Where do we want Minnesota to be in a year, in a decade, or more? We will not agree on every aspect," said Dayton. "However, if we can discover our shared goals, perhaps we will find greater accord on how best to achieve them. We must consider not only what is right for Minnesota today, but also what is best for Minnesota in the future."
