TUCSON, Ariz. - Airmen at 12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern) and the 612th Air and Space Operations Center (AOC) are currently participating in a Blue Flag exercise.
The exercise, which officially kicked-off Feb. 8, trains the warfighter at the operational level in a realistic synthetic environment.
These missions simulate everything from successful air strikes to downed aircraft and insurgent activity. Missions unfold on the massive modeling and simulation systems located at the 505th Command and Control Wing, located at Hurlburt Field, Fla., and are fed back into systems in the 612th AOC at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.
Blue Flag exercises teach strategy, planning procedures, targeting, execution and processes to employ air, space and information operations in a major theater campaign.
The exercise will culminate Feb. 14.
