KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force aircraft crashed during takeoff from Kandahar Airfield in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan today, July 20.
The crew ejected safely, sustaining some injuries. Injuries are currently being assessed by medical personnel. No other service members were injured in this incident.
Emergency personnel are on the scene. ISAF members are liaising with the Afghan national army and Afghan national police and have temporarily closed Highway 4 for safety reasons. They have also evacuated personnel from the immediate area.
The incident will be investigated, however, insurgent activity has been ruled out.
