Engineers Remove Eyesore in Ghazaliyah

Sgt. Nicholas Rogers, 46th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), 225th Engineer Brigade, a native of New Bloomfield, Pa., cuts rebar that was holding a dilapidated building together. Rogers and fellow troops from Company A, 46th ECB (H) cut over 200 feet of rebar to remove the collapsed structure from a neighborhood in the Ghazaliyah district. The heat generated from the cutting operations could be felt over 10-feet away.

A bucket loader operator dumps concrete rubble and metal into the back of a 20-ton dump truck as Spc. Derek Fay, 46th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), from Miami, Okla., oversees ground operations. Fay provided ground guidance to ensure the loader and the dump trucks did not drive over sharp metal pieces that could puncture a tire or cause damage to the heavy engineer equipment.
