A completed form awaits concrete to be poured at the Basra children's hospital in Basra, Iraq June 14. Nine Iraqi construction companies are working together on the facility with coordination from Gulf Region South Corps of Engineers. The hospital is being built to world health standards and will serve as a pediatric cancer treatment facility with over 90 patient beds.

Water and sewage lines at the construction site of the Basra children's hospital are inspected regularly as the project continues. Gulf Region South Corps of Engineers conducted a site survey June 14 to ensure the nine Iraqi firms working on the project have the materials they need and construction standards are maintained.

The hospital is under construction with 9 Iraqi firms doing the work and being coordinated by the Gulf Region South Coast Corps of Engineers. GRSC visited the site May 2 to check on the progess the Iraqi construction firms are making. The hospital is to begin staffing in January 2009 and open to patients as a cancer treatment facility in February 2009.
