Lt. Cmdr. Daniel August, a "shooter" aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, makes an initial inspection of one of the catapults before flight operations. The term "shooter" refers to naval officers assigned to the carrier who ensure the safe launch of aircraft from the flight deck. Truman and embarked Carrier Air Wing 3 are deployed supporting Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and maritime security operations.
