Rct. Aminnah Moulaye practices martial arts techniques on her partner Rct. Nicole Fite, both with Platoon 4032, November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, during a training session July 24, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. These techniques are part of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, which incorporates mental, moral and character discipline into hand-to-hand combat skills to help transform civilians into Marines. Moulaye, an 18-year-old Boston native, and Fite, an 18-year-old native of Amelia, Ohio, are scheduled to graduate Oct. 4, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
