Spc. Nathaniel Hill, a military police officer with the Nevada Army National Guard's 485th Military Police Company, uses a battering ram to open a door as part of the 2013 Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Ark., Monday, July 22, 2013. The battering ram was used to simulate breaching a doorway during tactical operations. Once the doorway had been breached, competitors then had to engage targets with an M9 pistol. The competition is a grueling three-day physical and mental challenge that tests the competitors on a variety of soldier skills and other tasks. The winners of the competition are named the Army National Guard Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year and then move on to the Department of the Army competition.
