Marine overcomes adversity, grows technical skills

Cpl. Lucas Matte, a motor transport technician with Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, is presented an award from Col. William Lieblein, the commanding officer of Marine Aircraft Group 31, during an awards ceremony, July 12, recognizing Matte for his superior performance throughout 2012. Matte was recognized by the Marine Corps Motor Transport as the Motor Transport Technician of the Year for 2012, an award earned by Matte after being selected from a occupational field that contains almost 15,000 Marines.

Balderaz, 33, from Freer, Texas, will receive the award during the upcoming Marine Corps Motor Transport Symposium.
