The AFL led a 14-person medical outreach team including doctors, nurses and a support staff to three villages deep in the jungles of Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, from July 1 to July 4, 2013. The medical outreach mission was a first for the AFL which was restructured in 2005 following 15 years of civil war. OOL advisders have been mentoring the AFL since 2010. OOL provides mentorship to the AFL to produce a capable, respected force able to protect Liberian interests in the West African region. In addition, the OOL is developing the leadership capabilities of the officers and noncommissioned officers to maintain a professional and credible military force with a reputation as a “force for good” among the Liberian people.
