Ron Rupocinski, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts corporate chef, takes a close look at a cake during the 2nd annual Army Birthday Cake Challenge at the Fayetteville Veteran Affairs Medical Center auditorium June 12. This cake, made by Samantha Waechter, a pastry chef won second place in the competition. The contest was held in honor of the Army's 238th anniversary June 14, as way to thank soldiers past and present and allow local community members to join the celebration.
