The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter destroyer JS Hyuga (DDH 181) departs Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, May 20, 2013, along with the guided missile destroyer JS Atago (DDG 177) and the tank landing ship JS Shimokita (LST 4002). The JMSDF ships were en route to San Diego to participate in multilateral exercise Dawn Blitz 2013. Dawn Blitz is a multilateral amphibious exercise designed to strengthen the skills of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as well as several partner nations.
