The 73rd Engineer Company from the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, detonated two Mine Clearing Line Charges (MICLIC) at the Yukon Training Area, May 22. The Engineers fired three inert and two live MICLICs as part of a Combined Arms Breach training exercise, which wrapped up three days of training in the field.
“The purpose of the exercise was to get us proficient in preparing and firing the MICLIC,” said Capt. David Vasques, Company Commander for the 73rd Engineers. In addition to the MICLICs the engineers conducted Remote Weapons Systems training and practices utilizing the plow and mine roller attachments for their Strykers.
“We usually only get to live fire the MICLIC at NTC,” said Vasques, “so getting to train with it up here in Alaska was a great opportunity.”
