Inspired soldiers honors friend with gift to children

Runners and volunteers gather around Capt Karla Frey, officer in charge of the Joint Visitors Bureau, 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. Frey worked diligently to organize a 5K warrior run in memory of Sgt. Merlin German, a Marine who died in 2008 as a result of injuries sustained in Iraq in 2005. The run was held on Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo where the 218th is currently deployed as part of Multinational Battle Group- East and raised $1,500 which will be donated to the Arthur C. Luf Children's Burn Camp in Union, Conn. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Norman Barrett, 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.)
