Soldiers catch up over coffee and breakfast at the Waffle House. Set in a makeshift kitchen in one of the aviation hangars here on Camp Bondsteel, soldiers volunteer their Sunday mornings to taking orders, making waffles and serving customers from 7am until noon. The donations collected are used to help fund local students taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam. First Lt. Jeff Hodish says that besides helping to raise funds for this program, it also eases some of the plainness that comes with deployment. "Instead of everything being so institutionalized, we have the option to go get a waffle, something they could go get 24 hours a day back home," he said. "It helps with morale. A lot of people have said that they enjoy coming here, because it gives them a break from the everyday." (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Angela Parady, 121st Public Affairs Detachment.)
