A Marine holds his plate as a Havelock Military Affairs Committee member serves him potato salad as a part of a free meal during the Havelock MAC Pig Pickin at Hancock Marina March 27. More than 200 Marines, Sailors and family members attended the event and enjoyed an Easter Carolina treat. “A Pig Pickin is a local tradition and a lot of these families are not from around here,” said Stephanie Duncan, the executive director of the Havelock Chamber of Commerce. “If nothing else, I hope they leave here with full stomachs and just a bit more relaxed then when they came in.”
