Prime Minister Nuri Kamel al-Maliki and members of government of Iraq visited Mosul in support of Operation Lion's Roar, May 14. Operation Lion's Roar is an Iraqi designed and led mission intended to seek out and eliminate criminal elements and al-Qaida Iraq terrorist threats in Mosul, Ninewa province and the surrounding areas. Lion's Roar will build on the operations that have been underway for the past several weeks targeting AQI cells that are using indiscriminate violence to intimidate, assassinate and wound innocent people in Mosul. PM al-Maliki held a meeting with the minister of interior, Jawad al-Bulani, and minister of defense, Abdul Qadir Mohammed Jassim al-Mufferie, and Ninewa Operations Center Commander, Lieutenant General Riyadh Jalal Tawifiq, to discuss ongoing operations.
