Georgian Liaison Marines: one unit, any mission

Lance Cpl. Daniel Kauffman, an electrician with the Georgian Liaison Team, 32nd Georgian Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 7, works on an electrical box, March 11, 2013. Kauffman, a 22-year-old native of Coldwater, Miss., is responsible for electricity work on seven bases and is the only electrician with the GLT. “He is a non-stop worker,” said Staff Sgt. Jose Soto, the supply and logistics chief with GLT. “He came here with a lot of knowledge, and he’s learned a lot along the way.” Kauffman also helps the Georgians with electricity issues and describes them as eager to learn. When he is not working at one of the bases, Kauffman spends his spare time taking Marine Corps Institute classes. “He does everything he does with a great attitude even though he has a lot of responsibilities,” Soto said. “Plus, he is always thinking of ways to make things better.”
